Benjamin Schnieder and I are currently organizing a summerschool with Karen Bennett (Rutgers) on the topic of *Social Ontology and “Traditional” Metaphysics*.

The course is primarily geared towards advanced (PhD and MA) students, but everyone is very welcome to attend. Please feel free to forward this mail to anyone who might be interested.

Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in social ontology.  What are races, genders, social groups, political boundaries?  How does social construction work?  These are interesting questions in their own right.  But there are further interesting questions about how they relate to more ‘traditional’ questions in metaphysics.  In this course, we will explore both the first order questions in social ontology and meta-questions about what we can learn from looking into the metaphysics of social entities.

The course will take place from Monday, July 18th to Friday, July 22nd 2022 at the University of Vienna. For more information, please visit
