CEU’s Philosophy Department is internationally recognized as one of the top analytic philosophy programs in continental Europe. Its faculty has published in the best journals and presses in the world. The Department was ranked #33 in the QS World University Subject ranking in 2022 - up two places from its #35 ranking in 2021. But more than that, CEU’s philosophy department uniquely combines analytic, continental, and historical approaches.

CEU is an English-language university in Vienna, with an exceptionally diverse international community, with students coming from over 100 countries, and faculty from some 40 countries, which makes for an unusually stimulating environment. CEU is a largely post-graduate institution with a small undergraduate student body. Students receive a great deal of personal attention, and classes have a low student/professor ratio.

Funding: All Philosophy PhD places are fully funded with a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend for 48 months. MA students are awarded scholarships (tuition discount and stipend) on a competitive basis.

We are crossing borders, intellectually and socially. Join us at CEU!
