Invitation to Workshop: Philosophy, Psychology and Logic at the Turn of the Twentieth Century

[English below] Wir freuen uns, Ihnen den Workshop „Philosophie, Psychologie und Logik an der Wende zum zwanzigsten Jahrhundert: Wien - Leipzig - São Paulo“ anzukündigen, der vom 20. bis 21. September 2024 an der Universität Wien stattfinden wird. Der Workshop soll sich mit der Forschung zu historisch-philosophischen Fragen der Philosophie, Psychologie und Logik im späten 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhundert befassen, mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf Empirismus, Psychologismus, Logischem Empirismus (Wiener Kreis) und analytischer Philosophie. The workshop is intended to address the development of research on historical-philosophical issues related to the philosophy, psychology, and logic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with particular emphasis on empiricism, psychologism, logical empiricism (Vienna Circle), and analytic philosophy. Following the success of the annual conference “Meeting of Studies on the Origins of Contemporary Philosophy” (São Paulo, 2023) and the graduate workshop “Ursprünge Zeitgenössischer Philosophie” (Leipzig, 2023), our aim is to bring together and discuss new research on the topic and to deepen the existing cooperation between the working groups from Vienna (Austria), Leipzig (Germany) and São Paulo (Brazil). We're currently accepting proposals for organizing and leading our next year's Summer School. Deadline: 18 November 2024 23:59 (CET) Funding: The VDP will cover organizational costs and travel expenses of 4-5 international and local instructors. How to apply? Interested parties should submit a proposal for the upcoming Summer School, which should not exceed 2-3 pages. The proposal should include: 1. Suggested title(s) 2. A description and motivation for the topic. 3. Target audience(s) (e.g., late master's students, graduate students, postdocs). 4. Proposed dates and duration 5. Organizing team, including VDP members and faculty (ideally up 4 to 5 people). 6. List of internal and external faculty for the Summer School. 7. Es wird sich mit der Kraft der (digitalen) Vernetzungs- und Kommunikationsfähigkeit der jungen Generation auseinandersetzen und die Frage stellen, was es braucht, um die Ambitionen junger Philosoph:innen zu erhalten, zu fördern und in Taten umzusetzen. Am 24. September 2024 steht dann die Gründungsversammlung auf dem Programm. Derzeit basteln 20 Köpfe am Konzept dieser Veranstaltung und freuen sich darauf, dass es bald endlich losgeht.
