Workshop: Privacy at the margins
Confirmed speakers:

Traditionally, analyses of privacy start from hard cases of breach, such
as reading other people's diaries and letters without permission, wiring
houses and passing on medical records, and these are well covered, for
instance, by the so-called control account of the right to privacy
(Marmor 2015, Menges 2024). Yet there are many actions and attitudes
which are, as it were, on the margins of privacy, and which either are
sketchy or uncouth but not obviously wrong, or are clearly wrong but not
obviously a breach of privacy: passing on intimate information but in an
anonymised way, novelists using others' intimate information in writing,
gossip, stalking, off- or online, gathering too much public information
about a public person, deep-fakes, asking someone questions about their
personal life, and the list can go on. Some of these have been recently
discussed by philosophers, within or without the context of privacy. The
conference thus aims to bring people together in order to discuss these
in-between cases, and many other similar ones, and to think:
* To what extent are these practices wrong?
* If so, is it helpful to think of them using the concept of privacy?
* Do we need new concepts in the ethics of information and observation
that go beyond privacy in order to cover these cases?

* an anonymised abstract attached in pdf, docx or odt format, of
700-1000 words (references excluded), for a slot of 1h15 or 1h30 (to be
confirmed);
* in the email body, your name, affiliation, and if you are currently
a PhD student;

Konferenz: The BEYOND LANGUAGE 2026 Conference
* The Philosophy Section of _Beyond Language 2026_ invites
contributions that examine the legacy of the linguistic turn and explore
contemporary philosophical approaches that move beyond strictly
language-centered paradigms. While the conference is interdisciplinary,
this section is particularly oriented toward work in analytic philosophy
and related traditions.
* We welcome papers in epistemology, philosophy of language,
philosophy of mind, and social or political philosophy that address
questions concerning meaning, normativity, justification, and the social
character of knowledge. Contributions engaging with pragmatism,
inferentialism, contemporary debates on conceptual practices, as well as
discussions of the limits of linguistic frameworks in philosophical
analysis are especially encouraged.
* The aim of this section is to foster rigorous philosophical
discussion on the role of language in philosophical inquiry and on
possible directions for philosophical thought after the linguistic turn,
bringing together scholars working within analytic and post-analytic
perspectives.

Workshop: On Finding: From Epistemic Acts to Accepted Facts
Der Lehrstuhl für Natur- und Wissenschaftsphilosophie (PD Dr. Jan
Michel) veranstaltet einen internationalen Workshop zum Begriff des
Findens, der vor allem in wissenschaftlichen Zusammenhängen eine
entscheidende Rolle spielt und bisher weitgehend ununtersucht ist.
Der Workshop „On Finding: From Epistemic Acts to Accepted Facts" findet
vom 16. bis 18. März 2026 statt.
Gemeinsam mit zehn Beitragenden, u.a. Samantha Copeland (Delft, NL), Ram
Neta (UNC, USA) und Maciej Witek (Szczecin, PL), beleuchten wir das
Thema aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven. Zudem gibt es die Möglichkeit
für alle Teilnehmenden in entspannter Atmosphäre in einem Knowledge Café
miteinander zu diskutieren.

Workshop: Reading Talia Mae Bettchers "Beyond Personhood"
Talia Mae Bettcher ist eine der prominentesten Vertreter:innen der
trans* Philosophie, eines philosophischen Teilbereichs, der uns nicht
nur neue Perspektiven auf soziale Unterdrückung und Geschlecht eröffnet,
sondern uns zudem dazu einlädt, ganz grundsätzlich darüber nachzudenken,
wie und wozu wir Philosophie betreiben. In ihrem Buch „Beyond
Personhood" betreibt Bettcher „groundbound philosophy", in der
Lebenswelt verankerte Philosophie, und weist neue Wege auf, das WTF, dem
sich trans* Personen tagtäglich ausgesetzt sehen, zu entlarven und
kritisieren.
Auf dem Workshop wollen wir Bettchers Werk gemeinsam mit der Autorin
diskutieren, ergänzt durch vier Beiträge zum Buch von Maren Behrensen,
Luce deLire, Resa-Philip Lunau und Blas Radi.
