Call for Papers (Deadline: 01.05.2026) GAP-Workshop für Promovierende 2026 Sprachphilosophie & Philosophie der Normativität Bielefeld, 25.-26. Juni 2026 organisiert von Benjamin Kiesewetter und Christian Nimtz in Zusammenarbeit mit der Gesellschaft für Analytische Philosophie * Der Workshop richtet sich an Promovierende und angehende Promovierende im Fach Philosophie mit einem Projekt in der Sprachphilosophie oder in der Philosophie der Normativität (Metaethik und Metaepistemologie, Gründe und Rationalität, Grundlagenfragen der Moralphilosophie und anderer normativer Disziplinen der Philosophie). Darüber hinaus gibt es keinen inhaltlichen Schwerpunkt. Alle Themen in einem der beiden Bereiche sind willkommen. * Die Teilnehmenden erhalten die Möglichkeit, sich untereinander und mit etablierten Philosoph:innen über ihre Projekte und Forschungsergebnisse auszutauschen. Als Expert:innen nehmen teil: Singa Behrens (Frankfurt), Katharina Felka (Münster), Tim Henning (Mainz), Benjamin Kiesewetter (Bielefeld), Christian Nimtz (Bielefeld) und Sebastian Köhler (Frankfurt). * Alle Teilnehmenden halten je einen inhaltlichen Vortrag zu einem Thema ihrer Wahl aus dem Kontext ihres Promotionsprojektes (25 Minuten Vortrag + 20 Minuten Diskussion) und führen ein ausführliches individuelles Feedbackgespräch mit zwei der betreuenden Expert:innen. * Zur Bewerbung senden Sie bitte (1) einen Text zum Dissertationsprojekt (max. 1000 Wörter) und (2) einen akademischen Lebenslauf an eike.schilling(a)uni-bielefeld.de. Stock - Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Wien Abstract: Most people nowadays, especially in the Anglophone world, first encounter Simone de Beauvoir through her 1949 magnum opus the Second Sex. But in a conversation with a biographer near the end of her life, Beauvoir mentioned only two books as particularly important for understanding her oeuvre. These were her two book-length works of moral philosophy, Pyrrhus and Cineas, from 1944, and Toward an Ethics of Ambiguity, from 1947. These works have until very recently received very little philosophical attention, often being treated as mere background to The Second Sex. Yet we argue that they lay the groundwork for a genuinely novel, promising, and systematic moral theory that parallels but also radically transforms Kant’s approach to moral theory in the Groundwork. In this paper, we explore several of that theory's more surprising implications, including that our ordinary practice of promising is morally suspect. We look forward to seeing you! Metaphysics of Logic_ _Keynotes and Organization_ The Student Conference Logic and Metaphysics I. Metaphysics of Logic will take place from 07.08.26. to 08.08.26 at the University of Bonn. Keynote speakers: Elke Brendel (confirmed), Gillian Russel (confirmed), tba. _Topic_ What is the relationship between logical laws and rational thinking? Are there facts about logic that are independent of us, and if so, what is their metaphysical status? Do purely logical statements have meaning? Is there a true logical system, or can several logical systems be accepted at once? What is the relationship between classical logic and alternative logics? Given the central role that logic plays in contemporary philosophy, the importance of these questions cannot be underestimated. In analytical philosophy in particular, it is often assumed that logical formalization can lend arguments a special power. This power makes it seemingly impossible to accept the premises of an argument and yet reject its conclusion. Arguments that cannot be formalized in this way, on the other hand, are often rejected as 'unscientific.' But as central as logic is to analytical philosophy, philosophers disagree about its nature and foundations. The aim of the conference is to facilitate the exchange of different positions on the mentioned issues. Both systematic contributions to current debates and discussions of historical positions are welcome. _Details_ We encourage BA, MA, and M.Ed. students to submit abstracts on the above topic in English. Submissions should include a brief description of the topic (approximately two to three sentences) and an abstract of no more than 400 words for a blind review. Each presenter will have 45 minutes for their presentation, 20 minutes for the talk, and 25 minutes for a Q&A. _The deadline for submissions is 30.04.26. Die formlosen Bewerbungen sollten eine Beschreibung der Thematik der Ringvorlesung sowie die Namen der angefragten oder anzufragenden Vortragenden enthalten, ferner ein Konzept zu Aufzeichnung und Streaming, einen Zeitplan, Angaben zur curricularen Einbindung für die Studierenden und eine Kostenaufstellung. Vorschläge in Form von kurzen PDF-Dateien (1-2 Seiten genügen) sind bis zum 15. März 2026 zu richten an: info(a)gap-im-netz.de. Der Vorstand wählt unter allen eingegangenen Vorschlägen einen aus. Die Veranstaltung wird als „GAP-Ringvorlesung" in einer Sonder-E-Mail und im Newsletter der GAP angekündigt. Die Mitschnitte sollen später auf dem GAP-YouTube-Kanal zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Dafür ist eine ansprechende Bild- und Tonqualität der Aufnahmen erforderlich. Zur Historie: Bisher haben zwei GAP-Ringvorlesungen stattgefunden. Die erste im SoSe 2024 hatte das Thema „Umkämpfte Begriffe: Philosophische Perspektiven auf Rassismus, Antisemitismus, Sexismus, ..." und wurde von Geert Keil, Anna Schriefl und Markus Schrenk in Berlin und Düsseldorf ausgerichtet. Die zweite im WiSe 2025/26 zum Thema „Zwischen Wildnis und Polis: Aktuelle Debatten um die Ethik der Mensch-Tier-Beziehung" richten aktuell Frauke Albersmeier und Alexander Christian in Münster und Düsseldorf aus.
