Dear All,
You are cordially invited to the next Pragmatic Academic Series workshop
on the topic of Conference Participation & Networking in Philosophy
directed at early-career philosophers.
Date: 16.10.24 - 13:15-14:45 - Room 2G, Neues Institutsgebäude,
Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Wien.
Speakers: Cathy Mason, Martin Kusch
Moderatior: Leah Ritterfeld
Giving good talks in philosophy is challenging. There's so much to
consider: the audience you're targeting, time constraints, how to make
complex content or technical terms understandable, and many more factors.
Academic conferences are also great places to network, so it's important
to make a good impression! This workshop is an unmissable opportunity
for early career philosophers to gain the knowledge they need to get the
most out of academic conferences and build a strong professional network
in philosophy.
Assistant Professor Cathy Mason (CEU) and Professor Martin Kusch
(UniWien) will provide clear guidance on selecting the most suitable
conferences for your work, creating compelling abstracts, and delivering
impactful talks. They'll also share their best advice for building
professional relationships, getting the most out of conference
attendance, navigating academic hierarchies, and developing inclusive
networking practices.
