Khôra Colloquium: Aus der Nacht in die Nacht – Zum literarischen Moment des philosophischen Schreibens, 11.04. 2024, 18:30, HS 3D im NIG

Liebe Alle, sehr geehrte Kolleg:innen, wir hoffen, ihr hattet schöne Ferien! Das nächste Colloquium findet am Donnerstag, 11.04. 2024, 18:30, Hörsaal 3D im NIG statt. Thema ist: Aus der Nacht in die Nacht – Zum literarischen Moment des philosophischen Schreibens in Rekurs auf Maurice Blanchot mit einem Input von Ana Drujan. Genauso, wie Blanchot über die Literatur schreibt, dass sie als Negation ihrer Selbst nichtig, illegitim und eine Täuschung ist, könnte man dies auch über die Philosophie behaupten. Die Forderung nach einem philosophischen Schreiben der Diskontinuität und des Fragmentarischen, die er dabei verhandelt, kann damit auch gelesen werden als eine Forderung nach einer Philosophie, die in ihrer Form der Literatur oder gar der Lyrik ähnelt: Eine Philosophie, die den Tod in ihrem Rücken sieht und aus der Leere des Grabes die Wirklichkeit seiner Sprache schöpft. Eine Philosophie der Mehrdeutigkeit, die als unbestimmte Negation aus dem Negieren heraus eine unscharfe Vielheit erschafft, die das Unerklärliche vergegenwärtigen kann. Könnte eine Philosophie, die in ihrem Schreiben ein Moment des Literarischen enthält, ein unvergängliches Werk sein, wie Blanchot in Anlehnung an Hegel schreibt? Ausgehend von einigen Textpassagen aus der auf Deutsch erschienenen Textsammlung „Das Neutrale“ von Maurice Blanchot möchte ich mit euch diskutieren, inwiefern philosophisches Schreiben sich einem literarischen Schreiben annähern kann. Ich möchte dabei offen erfragen, ob diese Annäherung sinnvoll sein kann, in welchen Fällen sie zu Tage tritt und dabei ganz besonders ein Augenmerk darauf legen, inwiefern wir in unserem philosophischen Schreiben literarische oder gar lyrische Momente integrieren können. Ich freue mich über eine Diskussion mit euch, die das Verhältnis der Form der Philosophie zu ihrem Inhalt reflektiert, die eine Auflösung dieser Form in Betracht zieht und die für uns alle neue Gedanken zu dem philosophischen Schaffensprozess des Schreibens anregen könnte. Unsere gemeinsamen Überlegungen werde ich dann so gut es geht zusammenfassen und auf meinem Blog kammerlphilosophieb-log.wordpress.com veröffentlichen, sodass wir alle weiterhin darauf zugreifen können. The presentation is entitled "Katharsis: On the Platonic Adaptation of an Orphic Idea" Abstract: At the time when Plato wrote his dialogues, many people sought meaning and salvation in Orphic mystery cults. In short, Orphism taught that the soul was once in a state of primordial blessedness in the company of the gods. Because of an original sin, it fell away from this state and is now trapped in circles of reincarnation in human bodies. Only initiation into the Orphic mysteries and purification from its current impure condition can help the practitioner to be released from this circle, restore itself in its original condition and attain eternal bliss in the company of the gods once again. Plato was critical of these cults, which often demanded fees in exchange for salvation by purifying rituals and initiation into the mysteries (cf. Republic 364b–c). At the same time, he took on central concepts and narratives from the Orphics to give expression to his own philosophical outlook on the soul, its fate, and its quest for self-perfection. Focusing on the Phaedo and its concept of katharsis (purification), I explore how Plato transforms an Orphic idea to conceptualize the soul's cognitive progress towards wisdom and virtue of character by means of philosophy. The meeting will take place in lecture hall 3A (NIG, Universitätsstraße 7, 3rd floor) at 17:15 and will last up to 18:45. All are invited to join us for dinner or drinks afterward. Liebe Freund:innen von Khora, ich darf euch ganz herzlich zur Auftaktveranstaltung unserer neuen Kolloquiums-Serie unter dem Titel "Literatur und Körper“ einladen. ACHTUNG: Das Kolloquium findet dieses Semester im Hauptgebäude, Seminarraum 8, UG, statt! In unserer ersten Einheit werden wir uns – anlässlich seines diesjährigen 150. Geburtstag – mit Franz Kafka Beschäftigen: Kann man in Kafkas Werk von radikalem Perspektivismus sprechen? Wir möchten uns dieser Frage anhand einiger Texte Kafkas und mittels Donna Haraways Konzept des „situierten Wissens“ nähern. Ob es Josef K ist, der im Gerichtsapparat verstellt durch Gänge, Bürokratieapparate, Tore und Mauern nie einen Blick auf „das Gesetz“ erhascht, der auf dem Rücken liegend erwachende Gregor Samsa oder z.B. die ungewöhnliche Verortung der Erzählerfigur in ihrem Bau in der gleichnamigen Geschichte: es scheint immer die Perspektive zu sein, die letztendlich das hervorbringt, was wir „Kafkaesk“ nennen und die große Kraft von Franz Kafkas Prosa freisetzt. "Er hat den archimedischen Punkt gefunden, hat ihn aber gegen sich ausgenützt, offenbar hat er ihn nur unter dieser Bedingung finden dürfen." (Kafka, Aphorismen: Paralipomena zur Reihe „Er“) Was ist das „Kafkaeske“ in den unhintergehbaren Perspektiven bei Kafka? Welche Macht geht von der Perspektive aus? Und welche vom Nicht-Perspektivier- und damit Perzipierbaren? Wir möchten mit euch, Kafka und Haraway philosophisch Experimentieren. Ich freue mich schon sehr auf ein neues Semester mit Khora und auf ein Wiedersehen mit euch nächsten Donnerstag. Wie gewohnt lassen wir anschließend den Abend im Café Gagarin ausklingen. VDP Writing Week Just before the new semester hits again, we want to push our thesis time to the max. Let's write together from Monday-Friday, 4.3.-8.3.2024, from 8:00-13:00 in room 3A, NIG, Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Vienna. We will have 3 writing sessions à 1,5h per day, with 15-minute breaks= 8:00-9:30, 9:45-11:15, 11:30-13:00. No registration necessary.
